Samsung Galaxy Tab Review - P1000

Samsung’s Galaxy Tablet has broken into the Android market in a big way.  Underneath the smooth and compact slab design lies a powerful Cortex A8 1.0GHz processor which will satisfy any users needs when browsing for a Tab.

The Froyo run device provides a TFT 7” LCD display with a stunning and crisp resolution ideally to make e-book reading and webpage loading a satisfying experience.  With the great pixel density  of 1024 x 600, the display lends itself to being extremely bright with clear and crisp colour definition.

Dual cameras included in the Tab provide an inner 1.3MP Camera perfect for video telephony and a 3MP outer Camera with LED flash to capture images and video.  The Tab definitely packs a punch of specs which amongst others, supports HD video, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, SMS, MMS, VoIP apps and push e-mail.  Not forgetting the microSD expansion capability which means more storage up to 32GB and RAM being 512MB.  Oh, and then there’s the Multitasking function which we couldn’t overlook as this feature is an added bonus.

At first glance the Samsung Tab attracts the eye as the design has a ghost-white glossy back which contrasts delightfully with the flush black bezel and glass screen.  It also feels lightweight and durable thanks to the Gorilla Glass screen and solid build.

Design-wise the Tab is clean, neat and functional with 4 touch buttons front-side, headphone jack on the top edge and the volume rocker, microSD card slot and power button on the right-hand edge.  The two speakers appear on the bottom of the Tab are noticeably louder than your average Smartphone too.

Let’s talk touch screen now.  The screen’s touch friendly software provides an extremely responsive light taps, scrolling, zooming or flicks easy and precise.  The 4-way Accelerometer makes quick adjustments when turning the Tab and the Swype keyboard adds to the user friendliness of the Galaxy Tab.

With the ultimate cherry on top comes the Flash Player 10.1 support which makes browsing richer, faster and smoother, something ‘the other Tablet’ didn’t include.  It’s like taking the best Android Smartphone you ever had and giving it 3 times more power and features making it a Super Android contender.

Next on the agenda would be the 3rd party applications which scale well on the large display including Facebook, Twitter, TweetDeck and YouTube.  What more could you ask for?  How about gaming I hear you mutter.  Well, the accelerometer makes video playback and graphic-heavy games speedy, smooth and of a high quality.

Adding to the attractiveness of the Galaxy Tab is the e-mail, Calendar App as well as a Media Hub for video clips and movies.  Most Android Market Apps will work on the Galaxy Tab which is great because the battery life boasts up to 7 hours of video playback according to the manufacturer’s estimates.

In a nutshell or rather a Tablet, the entire Samsung Galaxy P1000 experience is a swift, friendly and indulgent one.
